A Reintroduction
It’s funny how an idea can percolate and change over the years but never disappear. I first started with the concept of Story Connections over a decade ago. It was a radio show with my mother at the beginning. Then it became a Facebook page. It’s been a sort of blog, but not very well maintained because (insert all the excuses). But it’s always been a dream. I love books. All kinds of books. I’ll try almost anything. The picture above is a picture I took while writing this post. There are 23 books and three notebooks. There are more books on my TBR list than is possible for me to read in this lifetime.
I’ve always been a rule follower (I’m a firstborn girl of eight children), and I kept trying to figure out the “rules” for creating a successful blog. What I’ve discovered is there aren’t really any real rules other than consistency (which, ironically, is the one thing I haven’t tried). There are good ideas, best practices, if you will. But some people will say to only do “A” and never do “B,” and then you read other people say “Always do “B” and never do “A.”
I’ve decided that I’m going to just write. I’m going to share the books that I love. I’m going to share why I love them. I’m going to share why I think you should read them. I’m not going to worry about the “rules” or the “right way to do things”. I’m going to attempt to write thoughtful, well-written reviews, editorials, and reports of the books I’m reading and the things I’m learning from them.
I hope what you find here is meaningful. I hope it makes you think. I hope it makes you ponder. I hope it makes you ruminate. But most importantly I hope it makes you read.
Cheers,
Rebecca
